Bio

Tammy Ryan's plays have been commissioned, developed and produced across the country. Her play, THE MUSIC LESSON which premiered at Florida Stage (2001) has had over twenty-five productions nationwide, received the American Alliance of Theatre in Education Distinguished Play Award and is published by Dramatic Publishing Company. More recently LOST BOY FOUND IN WHOLE FOODS, developed at the New Harmony Project was a featured play in the National New Play Networks 2009 Showcase of Plays and co-produced by Premiere Stages and Playwrights Theater of New Jersey (2010).

Other plays include A CONFLUENCE OF DREAMING, BABY'S BLUES, FBI GIRL, THE PIRATE QUEEN, IN THE SHAPE OF A WOMAN (Pittsburgh Playhouse), DARK PART OF THE FOREST (Premiere Stages), THE BOUNDARY (University of Pittsburgh Repertory Theater), PIG and VEGETABLE LOVE (29TH Street Rep). DRY CLEANING THE SOUL was named a finalist for the 2010 Heideman Award at Actors Theater of Louisville and was a winner in the 6 Women Write Playwriting Festival.

Other honors include the Pittsburgh Cultural Achievement Award, the Heinz Endowments Creative Heights Grant, and fellowships from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts. She has held residencies at VCCA, the Bonderman National Playwriting for Youth Symposium and the Sewanee Writers Conference.

LINDSEY'S OYSTER which was commissioned by International Culture Lab and premiered at the Kitchen Theater (2011) will be presented at "The Honour Games" Festival at garagistanbul in Istanbul, Turkey in November 2011.
